Today would have been Shel Silverstein‘s 83rd birthday. In honor of that, I want to share a poem that brings me much joy to read with Addie:
No Difference
By; Shel Silverstein
Small as a peanut,
Big as a giant,
We’re all the same size
When we turn off the light.
Rich as a sultan,
Poor as a mite,
We’re all worth the same
When we turn off the light.
Red, black or orange,
Yellow or white,
We’re all the same color
When we turn off the light.
So maybe the way
To make everything right
Is for God to just reach out
And turn off the light.

I LOVE this! Beautiful poem and perfect for everyone. My daughter enjoys poems also, it’s a good alternative to reading a story. Thanks for sharing!

Thanks for sharing this poem!! We haven’t read any poems aloud to Rhys yet – we have to stick to cardboard books still because he wants to rip out the pages – but I do have Shel’s book waiting on the bookshelf 🙂
