When I began to write about my mother, I realized that I write a lot about her. A lot about who she is as a person and how she’s influenced me, but one of my favorite things about her is that she’s classic. I’ve learned a lot about how to exude woman from her… much of it how she presents herself.
After my father’s passing, she didn’t hide her grief, but she helped us have our own. And during times of stress after that… a breakup, a job loss, a failed friendship, she would always encourage us to get up, eat, shower, dress. Things that helped make us human before we felt human again. She was, and still is, such a rock.
Recently, I found myself in a motherhood slump. I have felt the need to pick myself up and put me back together… but this mind is different. This body has changed. And channeling my mother, I’ve set up a few fresh looks to help me out of my slump for the winter and fall. Fashion has never been my forté, but I do love looking put together- I feel better when I look better.

I’ve never been able to buy clothes online successfully. It’s not the sizing issue, but the many different cuts.

About the only thing that helps me when I am in a slump is reading a good Historical Romance novel! Shopping is my Mom’s thing and it certainly helps her–but then we are total opposites in every way imaginable!

I also feel better when I look better. Sometimes I see moms who have done just a little bit more than I did during getting ready and they just look so much better. I always think why didn’t I take the time do something like that, it only takes a few extra seconds.
