For people all around the world, an MBA is a great investment as it is a highly respected and sought-after qualification that leads to a huge range of lucrative career opportunities. But, studying for an MBA can be hard work, especially if you have returned to college to study for your master’s degree later in life, after settling down and having children. Because of this, it’s not uncommon for parents studying for their MBA to feel that they have little time to look after themselves, stay in shape and improve their own health. We’ve listed some of the best ways to make more time for health and fitness as a busy parent and student.
Studying Online
As a parent, there are many MBA career opportunities that will be perfect for supporting your family. However, studying for the degree itself is not the easiest of tasks, which is why many MBA students are instead choosing to go with an online program instead. You may ask yourself: is an online MBA worth it, but remember that the qualification that you get once you’ve completed the program is exactly the same as those awarded on traditional, campus-based programs. There is also much more flexibility, as you can study from home and easily fit your work around your family schedule, giving you more time to eat healthily or exercise daily.
Eat Breakfast
Every morning you make sure that your children have breakfast, but one of the biggest bad habits of many students is skipping breakfast to save time. But, skipping breakfast can leave you feeling hungrier throughout the day, leading to increased snacking that could cause a lack of energy, weight gain, and other issues that could become detrimental to your health and success in the future. So, even if you just grab a piece of fruit or a cereal bar, eating breakfast daily is a must!
Family Exercise
Just as it’s important for adults to get regular exercise in order to stay healthy and fit, it’s also important that your little ones get their daily dose of physical activity, too. Taking walks with your family can not only be a great way to get more exercise, it can also help to give your mental health and wellbeing a boost, clear your mind, and help you to develop stronger and closer family bonds. So, when you do get back to your degree work, you’ll feel refreshed and happier!
Drinking Water
If you’re studying for a long period of time in the day, it is easy to turn to coffee or even sugary energy drinks to give yourself a boost and make sure that you get your work done. But, this can be bad for you in the long run, and the most important thing is that you remember to stay hydrated! So, keeping a big bottle of water at your desk and drinking it as you work is a simple change that you will certainly be able to reap huge benefits from.
As a busy mom or dad and a student, finding the time to look after ‘you’ can feel impossible, but it doesn’t have to be.

I have often thought of doing some course work, but I am not sure what I want to do which makes it a little frustrating. These are all great suggestions.

This is great! I received my Bachelors and both Master degrees as a parent. It was tough but totally doable with good time management skills as well.

Love this. It’s something I think about often. Would love to go back to school and do what I need to do to get where I want to be. Especially as a mom to 7 I would love to be able to show them its doable!

My mom just recently went back to college. I’m so proud of her and have no idea how she does it. She has her blog, speaking engagements, 3 kids to look after, and her schooling.

These are great tips! I remember college, and now, as a mom, I can’t imagine doing “mom” and “college” at the same time – I applaud the women who do it! They are fantastic!
