As I prepare for my first blog conference #SoFabUOTR in New York on Saturday, I am going for sheer comfort… well, maybe not all comfort. I want to look put together. For this, I enlisted Dave to tell me what he liked most AND what he thought I looked comfortable in. We came up with three must-have outfits for me…
For my first outfit, I’ll be driving (leaving the house around 5am) with Millie from PVD to NYC and need to be comfortable. The top is awesome because the sleeves can roll up, for daytime, but can be down for the possibly chilly morning. I chose it because I think it’s comfortable, but also has a pop of color that I love and because it’s simple, I can throw on a few Alex & Ani bracelets and call it done! The sneakers are great because they’re comfortable- for walking around the city taking photos- but they’re not dingy… at least not yet!
Top, Calvin Klein : similar
Shorts, Cynthia Rowley: similar
Shoes, Coach: similar
For apps and cocktails, I need something a bit more dressed up, but having Millie with me (and needing to nurse her) means I need an accessible top. For this outfit, my new (SALE!) pencil skirt from Old Navy is going to be awesome! It moves well with the body, is a light fabric, and, best of all it’s comfortable! Paired with braided sandals and a simple tank- totally perfect. On top, I’ll add a bright pop of color with Chewbeads from my fave baby store- makes me look put together and gives Millie the teething help she needs!
Top: Old Navy
Skirt: Old Navy
Sandals: Target
Necklace, Chewbeads: Bellani
Lastly, and oh so glamorous of me, is my outfit to drive home. It may seem silly, but after a long day, I put a lot of thought into this. I’m familiar with the drive, as I used to night drive A LOT in college, so I know that comfort is key. I also know that I may need to pull over to nurse Millie on the way back, so I don’t want to be in a skirt and tank top at a rest stop. For my drive-time outfit, I’m trading my skirt for leggings, changing back into my sneakers, and adding a light cardigan over my shoulders to keep the humid night’s chill off of me and the air flowing to the back of the car (a sweaty baby is a mad baby). Underneath each outfit is my favorite nursing tank, which makes it easy to be totally covered while nursing from the belly to the top shirt!
Leggings: Old Navy
Sweater: Target
Nursing tank: Target
Finally… I know you’re wondering… what’s Millie wearing?
2-Piece Outfit: Carters
We will be traipsing the city together, alternating between the Toddler Beco carrier (my newest obsession) and the GB evoq. #glamorous for sure. This is a one-day conference and I am not afraid to change in a bathroom, so outfit changes are OK for me… I do think if it were a weekend event I would have to come up with a better plan to make one outfit transition throughout the whole day. As a girl who was never really into fashion, this is tough! What do you think of my choices (be honest… I have a day to tweak my look!)? What are your fashion tips for blogging conferences?
What fun outfits you chose! Those slip on sneakers would be something my daughter Gina would be all over.
I always dress comfortably for things like this. I like to be comfy 🙂
These are cute looks! Summer conferences can be hard. You want to look professional, but you also don’t want to die of heat stroke!
