I am so excited to have the opportunity to join in on an obstacle course race this weekend in Bristol, RI! My running partner and I are SO excited to do The Trident Race over 3.5 miles and over 20 obstacles. OCR (obstacle course racing) is the fastest growing sport worldwide, with more people running in obstacle course races than marathons and half marathons combined. The Reckoner Group is bringing OCR to Historic Colt State Park in Bristol, RI this summer.
The Trident Race is the first ever ~5k obstacle course race to be held in Bristol’s historic Colt State Park on July 25, 2015. The hype does not stop at the finish line, however. The after race party is shaping up to be pretty epic, with live music and a clam bake to celebrate achievements- best of all: it will be a family friendly event. Partial proceeds to benefit the Bristol Parks and Recreation Department with a special donation to The Wounded Warrior Project.
According to founder Ethan Tucker, “Obstacle course races have a great way of bringing out out the best in people, so everyone has a great time. The fun does not stop at the finish line, after the race we are producing the most epic festival of life in the history of Bristol, with live music and a clam bake to celebrate achievements.”
Race co-founder Mark Rhynard had this to say, “Whether you are in it to test your speed and agility or need an excuse to enjoy a sunny day with friends and family in one of Rhode Island’s most spectacular locations, The Trident Race will surely become a RI tradition for years to come.”
Also going on: The Mini Trident race, which will be approximately 1/4-1/2 mile long course. It will start around noon, with small children size obstacles finishing with a fun inflatable water slide. All participants will receive a finisher medal and t-shirt.
“We see The Trident Race as a metaphoric celebration of overcoming obstacles that life sets before us. Racers participate mostly for the adrenaline rush of healthy competition and personal achievement,” says Ely Beckman, founder of RKNR Media.
