Being a mother can be stressful during the best of days, but if you also have a job to work around the children, as well as your partner working full-time, then stress levels can rise even further. One of the things many moms are looking to achieve in 2017 is to either lose weight, or at least stick to a fitness regime that is going to provide them with many health benefits, but sometimes sticking to a fitness schedule can be hard work as a working mom.
It doesn’t matter if you are a school counselor already, or you are learning masters of counseling programs online that will give you the opportunity to be one. Whatever job you do, you can be sure it’s going to be time consuming enough as it is without being a mom as well, so spending time exercising during the week will not only help you, but it will also help your family knowing you feel good about yourself.
If you are looking for some tips that will help you accomplish this, have a look at the five tips that we have assembled below that will give you an advantage when looking to keep fit as a working mom.
Always plan ahead
It’s important that you plan your week ahead while being as detailed about it as possible. You need to think of when the children are at school, what days and hours you are working, and of course many other activities that take place during the week ahead. Having a calendar will help you in this process and once you have filled it in with all of the important activities, you’ll then know what little time you do have left can be used to concentrate on your own fitness.
Keep your exercises simple
Being a working mom is hard enough, so you’ll want to keep your exercises as simple as possible. Stick to cardiovascular workouts by buying a cross trainer for home use, and you will quickly see the results you have only ever dreamed of.
Exercise from home
One of the best tips for any working mom is to make sure you have the equipment to be able to workout from home. There’s no point in signing up to a gym because you’ll not know when you can go for a start, and if you already have a busy schedule you’ll not want to spend any time traveling to and from other places just for a workout when you can do it in the comfort of your own home.
Get your children and partner involved
It could prove a little difficult to do, but getting your children and partner involved in your exercises will mean you can kill two birds with one stone. Not only will you be able to concentrate on your exercise plan, but you’ll also get to spend some time with your family.
Jogging strollers
If you have a young child, there are now jogging strollers for busy moms, so you’ll not only get to spend time with your child and get them out the house, but you’ll also be able to jog until your heart is content.
Staying fit is never easy, so persevere and workout when you have time.

Getting your kids involved is great for them too! Plus it makes you not have to carve out separate time by yourself. We started doing the couch25k program with my girls and they are loving it!

I work out at the gym almost everyday. My issue is I can’t seem to get the dieting down. I love food and always have so much around me. Stinks!!

It’s all about your surroundings- for sure! I shop and store food the way I want to eat. It’s helpful that the whole family is on board, though!
