Hello. My name is Justina and am 37 weeks pregnant. 2 weeks ago I received a likely diagnosis of achondroplasia for my baby. At first I cried. I still have moments of crying. But I have since embraced it and most of the time am actually very excited for my baby boy to get here. He is healthy and that is what is important. I have been trying to do as much research as I can but find life experiences are helping me much more then studies are. Which is how I came across your blog. First, I want to say thank you. I know it is just something that is normal to you now at this point but for me (and I am sure others like me) it is a huge help and benefit. I felt guilty for being upset at first. Then reading your blog I realized it was ok to feel everything I felt. I almost felt as though it was me writing when I read about when you found out. And second, I am unsure on where to turn as far as if I need to see other doctors once he is here other then a regular pediatrician. This baby is my second child and my son just turned 3. I absolutely love his pediatrician and actually have an appt with him later this week for my sons 3 year appointment and planned on talking to him about the new baby as well. Is there anything that I should talk to him about specifically? Is there anyone else I should contact? Thank you so much for your time.
