Easter celebrations are candy-less in our house. It’s partly because I’m still holding strong to not giving Addie candy and it’s partly because Dave and I have NO self-control. I ate 10 Peeps and a Cadbury Egg on Saturday afternoon because they were close to me. Easter candy is a particular weakness of mine.
That being said, I still love to assemble baskets for the girls, and went ahead and got Millie the same basket from Pottery Barn as Addie- Peter Rabbit. There’s just something about beautiful Easter baskets that the girls get each year- I still remember mine s a child. Once it arrived, I knew I had to figure out what went in! …mostly, my eye was on the NO candy, but still fancy, Easter basket!
We stuck with our tradition of filling the eggs with pennies- which I do both for my Dad (who collected pennies) and to avoid buying jelly beans to stuff inside- and added a treat element of squeeze yogurts for Addie and fruits and veggies for when we’re on the go. These are going to be staples to our Spring as we stop and play at playgrounds and inevitably, will need snacks!
For the rest of the basket, I headed to Target for a few fun things, like flashcards and a coloring book, BJ’s for organic food pouches and to Bellani Maternity to fill up on our Springtime needs for everything Easter basket and beyond. Bellani has awesome ideas to use as baskets, from sand pails to gorgeous Petunia Picklebottom bags, and everything mom and baby need inside! For Addie, I chose a Melissa & Doug magnifying glass and binoculars, since she’s incredibly curious about what she sees and looking through things. I know that she will love having outdoor adventures with them! She also got some Poppy Drops– adorable temporary tattoo earrings! I love that they have super small sizes too (meant for dolls, but totally putting on Millie!). For Miss Millie, I chose a Banana Brush and Jack n’ Jill toothpaste for those chompers that are making their way in now! And finally, I added a book that both girls will love as much as I do, I’m sure: Beekle. I love to get used books passed down… but this was just too good to pass up- Bellani always has the best book selection (Rosie is next our must-have list!).
You can shop Bellani online from anywhere, and get FREE shipping on orders $45+… or shop online and pick-up in store (they will even run your purchase out to your car- PERFECT for new parents)! Easter is a time of thanks for Him and, for us, welcoming Spring into our home. We hope that whether you have a few pieces of candy or the Peeps run in fear from your insatiable sugar-tooth (like me), you have a wonderful holiday!

I like your confession. You ate the whole pack, boy is that easy to do. I admire your strength and if you start a child out without all the candy they won’t need or expect it. We always did Candy and an outfit.

I hope she won’t ask. I know someday I will add some… but I truly have NO self control, except to just not buy it in the first place!

We’ve done similar Easter baskets for our son the past few years. This year we will include some mini Cadbury eggs because he loves them, but the rest will be books, a small toy or two and some things he can use.

The mini eggs are so great. I love that JUST ONE can satisfy, where as the whole big egg can make me feel a bit sluggish!
