Keeping the room of your kid always organised and clean can be a big challenge. Fighting the mess is not easy at all, especially when your little ones are doing everything they can to make a big mess. When it comes to the bedding, you have to pay special attention to the disinfection because on this depends the health of your children. Except changing all the sheets after a flu or a nighttime accident, you will also have to think about the usual microbes and bacteria which you kids bring in from the outside with their clothes and shoes. The cleanness of the bedding is definitely essential for the preservation of the good health of your little ones, so now is the time to take the necessary measures to improve your usual routine.
It is impossible to protect your children from everything but at least you can try and maintain their rooms always perfectly clean with their help, of course. In case you have small children, you will have to come up with a solution to the nighttime accidents. It is not so easy to remove the urine smell from the bedding of your little ones or make the sheets ideally clean again after the accident. Don’t worry, however, because DomesticCleaners Abbey Wood will give you some interesting tips that will help you solve the problem with the germs in your kid’s room, especially in the bedding.
- Treat the blood and urine stains immediately – The stains from urine and blood are usually the hardest to clean. The key here is to react as fast as you can when you notice the stains. The first step is to use a towel to absorb as much as you can of the urine before it can spread into the mattress. If you don’t have time to clean the sheets immediately, you can put them in a plastic bag and treat them in the morning. For the blood stains, you can soak the sheets in cold water right away or scrub them with a towel and cold water. The hot water will make the stains from blood permanent, so don’t put the sheets in the washing machine.
- Find effective stain remover – There are a lot of products which claim to be very effective when it comes to the removing of stains. Look for those which not only erase the stains but also eliminate the unpleasant smell of urine or something else. Most products only cover it up which is not the best solution. In order to eliminate the odors entirely, don’t hesitate to purchase more expensive cleaning products.
- Cover the mattress – In order to limit the damages of the nighttime accidents and save yourself a lot of work, you can find plastic covers for you mattress or directly purchase waterproof model. It is hard enough to clean the bedding of your little ones, so better save yourself the troubles of disinfecting the mattress as well. You will see that this will solve a lot of your problems.
- Get waterproof or hypoallergenic pillows – Speaking of waterproof mattress, why not get also the same pillow? Those special models are essential for the preservation of a child’s bedding, so don’t hesitate any more and purchase them. If your kids have allergies or asthma, you can also look for hypoallergenic pillows which will prevent any health complications in the future.
Cleaning the bedding of your kids won’t be such a complicates task any more. Just make sure that you treat the stains and the odors as fast as possible. This will save you a lot of troubles in the future and will make your work easier.

If I don’t wake my six year old up twice a night, he will wet the bed, so this can happen a two or three times a week. We have water proof pads that we put in between each fitted sheet. Its quite the chore right now, but our doctor insisted that at six years of age, goodnights or pull-ups just prolong bed wetting….so unfortunately we are doing the straight up underwear thing. The laundry is daunting….but hopefully we’ll get through this…soon I hope. 😉

Hi Heather,
Thank you for the comment.
Hope this is just a short period and you will get through this very soon.
It’s a good thing that you have consulted with a doctor. I could be (and most probably am) wrong, but sometimes this might be caused by an emotional problem (BUT I am NOT a doctor). Maybe seek a second professional opinion.
Wish you all the best!
Kath

Thanks so much for sharing your sentimental post. My favorite spot in the city is my now home. I didn’t add the touches to my previous home because I really hated the location so it never felt like home. My new home has all the bells and whistles and it feels like I’m on a permanent vacation. I love it. I hope your new home brings you joy.

I LOVE your patio! I agree 100% my favorite spot in my city is my home as well. I love our backyard, we have good neighbors, and I feel so blessed. We used to live in a pretty ratty neighborhood so I am very appreciative of where we are now. 🙂

Thank you for sharing your heart in this post. I know the feeling. I have moved many times and many times I have attempted to make the house/city/town a “home”. I think I finally found that where I am now.

I have had no attachment to a house like you, and I sort of wish I did. The closest I came was our first house, but it couldn’t accommodate our growing family. I hope to feel that way about a home someday

We bought our first home a few years ago and I know when we left the townhouse, I remember looking in my rear view mirror as we drove away for the last time. I think any place you spend time in, especially live, can have its sentiments. I held it together by simply imagining all our new place would be.

It also made me sad to leave our home when we moved to our new home. It took some time to adjust, but we’ve been here 3 years now and this is now my favorite spot and I love it like I loved our old home.

Great tips! My five-year-old wets her bed once or twice a month only, and it happens if she’s too tired to wake up in the night, or if she’s been drinking too much water just before going to bed. I don’t have many problems with urine stains already, but ask me for the blood stains. This girl of mine fights like a warrior at school and in the hood, rides her bike like a boy and plays football, and every day there’s new scratches, wounds and scars. And I don’t know what’she’s doing while she sleeps, but there are often blood stains here and there on her bedding. I hope this will end one day, of course, but till then I continue collecting tips and ideas on cleaning all those stains. Thank you for the great post!
