Sounds like a mouthful (no pun intended), doesn’t it? Recently the term mommy blogger has been said with a slightly shrill tone, holding onto the “o” in mommy and dragging it out while in the phrase, “Oh, you’re a mommy blogger?”
No. I’m a content creator, badass bloggess, self-employed, wife and mom of two.
But then I was stopped in my tracks when I ran into an acquaintance and her husband. “OH!” he said, as though he recognized me, “The breastfeeding blogger! I love your site.”
So. Strange. But he [literally] face palmed himself and went on to stammer about not meaning exactly how it sounded… yeah. I got it. No biggie. It was kind of cool.
So, what do we breastfeeding bloggers do when going to a conference? We bring the babe, of course! For me, this is kind of insane because I also pump for a child that’s not my own- this means an early wake up and after a long day of travel (yep… making the trip in one day to avoid hotel costs), a late pump session.
First items in the bag: extra breast pads + water bottle! …the rest is pretty standard, I suppose. But really… how does one get through a conference with a baby in tow? I’m not totally sure, but I am going to make a go at it on Saturday at SoFabUOTR NYC! Besides my awesome GB Stroller, I’ve started to pack and so far, it’s looking pretty good- I may just be lucky to have the stroller to carry everything!
I’ll have the essentials for me:
(skim over picture to learn more) +
- Light sweater, sunglasses and a change of clothes and shoes (I.C.E.)
- Cash + emergency CC
And for Millie:
(skim over picture to learn more) +
I love my breastfeeding relationship with Millie, and the fact that I work from home so that I can be a career mom… but I didn’t get this opportunity with Addie due to a difficult latch, resulting in LOTS of time pumping. I’m finding the biggest travel perk is no bottles, milk, or ice packs to worry about, and I’m totally going to live that up! I am so excited that babies are welcome at this event AND that Dave is totally taking one for the team, and helping me get out of the house at an obscene hour, giving up his work-from-home day, and prepared to help me late at night (in all my tiredness) on Father’s Day weekend!
So, what’s in your bag… do you think I’m missing anything? I’ve never been to a blogger conference before, and the early morning, late night, and long drive have me worried!

First, I love that you are breaking the mold of the mommy blogger. Thank you! In my bag if I carry safe snacks (no gluten, nuts) and some water I am good. Oh yes and my lip gloss, I always get dry hands at conferences!

It’s just a regular conference… just awesome that they let bloggers bring their babies. I could NOT leave Millie all day. She does like solids, but she would freak without some milkies!

The bags look good. Maybe some nursing pads in case something runs long and some hard candy or gum would go into mine.
