#SoFabUOTR NYC was amazing. I cannot say enough good things about it…
But most of all, my very favorite thing: I could bring Millie with me. Working for a company that loves their workers AND their children is absolutely exhilarating. It is a breath of fresh air to have another woman come up to you, hand you a glass of wine, take your child, and fall in love with them. To have your ideas listened to while you have a baby on the breast is like nothing I’ve ever experienced before… but want to share with the world. Sure, having my 3 year old would have been a bit much, but the respect for mamas with newbies meant the world to me.
As an exclusively breastfed baby, Millie isn’t so great being without me for more than an hour or so, and a whole day? Not a chance! Being able to bring her to NYC for her first trip there was such a magical experience for me. It was our girls’ day- filled with a few wrong turns, a light rain shower, lots of love from fellow bloggers, and… nursing. Everywhere.
Millie actually fell asleep in my favorite carrier (the new Beco Toddler), that I almost convinced myself I didn’t need due to my [several] other carriers, but purchased anyway. Best investment to date, btw! So Millie, in Millie Fashion, did NYC via the boob.
On the train at 5am to NYC…
On the train at 10pm back to RI…
And everywhere in between, from Grand Central to the Streets of NYC!
If you’re looking for the best blogger conference, SoFab is it.
If you’re looking for the best carrier for larger babies and toddlers, the Beco Toddler is it. I would buy this thing again and again! The prints are limited, the weight goes up to 60 (!!!!) pounds and there is a pocket big enough for my Note4, which is the size of a small tablet. (I pair my carrier with Boba organic teething pads to protect the carrier from baby gnawing.)
Sometimes making a little investment in yourself goes a long way- this is surely the case for me! Finally going to a conference, exploring my craft, building my brand, networking, and pushing myself out of my comfort zone was the best decision I’ve made in a long time!

Sweet!
I’m amazed you can wear those gorgeous necklaces! Both my kids chocked themselves or both of us with when I tried to wear jewelry.

It’s a teething necklace from Chewbeads. I haven’t worn a non-teething necklace in 3 years!

That’s awesome a great carrier makes all the difference sometimes in how long you spend out of the house. I’m glad you were able to take her to conference with you and help build your brand. I’ve yet to find the childcare to do that with my older kids. I definitely feel limited sometimes in the opportunities I can take.

I am limited, too! I hear that, mama! I am so glad that my hubby is supportive of me taking the trip- I think Addie would have destroyed the place if she was there! LOL!

My wife has taken our son with her on a trip with her mother and sister to Turkey. Gotta say, it’s not easy from this end coming back to an empty home but she really needed the break.

So awesome she got it!

Chelley, your pictures are so cute! And that baby carrier looks like a great idea. I recently saw a man walking down the street and instead of having a carrier he had a tiny baby tucked under the front of his t-shirt. I wonder if he was comfortable…

Your daughter is absolutely adorable. Your faces in some of the breastfeeding photos are hilarious. My first baby was like that and nursed all the time. Glad you two had such a great experience in NYC.

You have beautiful girls. Breastfeeding is best for babies. I breastfed two babies before who are now 12 and almost 9 years old. They won’t take any bottles and pacifier. It was hard especially out in the public but to seeing them so healthy even my preemie made breastfeed the best.

Sounds like a fun conference. Breastfeeding a baby is really tough, especially in public, but I’m glad that it didn’t stop you from going. That baby carrier is awesome.

There are better ways to nurse and cover up now then there were even eight years ago when I was nursing my youngest. It was always a challenge in public, but we always made it work

Good for you! I know what you mean. My one year old is exclusively breastfed and I can’t be away from him for more than two hours. I am fortunate enough as well, to be able to bring him with me to work. I use a baby Ergo carrier, which looks similar to the one you have. He can feed whenever he needs to and my hands are free. I’m glad you had a great time in my beloved NYC!
Chelley @ A is for Adelaide says
I loved my Ergo!!!! Millie doesn’t like it anymore, sadly!
