Running is a big part of my life, but running post kids has been insanely difficult for me! Time and energy seem to be on a really tight budget these days. To get myself back out on the pavement this Fall, I needed some extra confidence.
Since my friend gave birth to her daughter and then passed away, I’ve been pumping milk for the baby. While my body is producing, it’s also extremely stressed and holding onto some excess weight… which makes running even harder on my bladder. After two kids, it’s all different. All 5 feet, 8 inches are softer, rounder. There are more dimples and valleys where there used to be smooth ridges and tone. My skin is dryer and my hair texture has become unwieldy most days. My body seems quite foreign, and where I once found solace running through my neighborhood, I now find myself unsure.
After just a mile or two, I find myself worried about leaks. Yep. Awesome. Thanks, kids. As if my external body changes were not enough, everything happening on the inside is just insane!!! STOP THE INSANITY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
While shopping at Target, I found these awesome new things: Poise Impressa Bladder Supports. They’re super easy to use- inserted like a tampon, and come in 3 sizes. The sizes have to do with your own body, and are not based on height or weight, you just start with Size 1, and if you still leak, move to size 2, then size 3 if necessary. Me? I’m good for at least 6 miles on size 2. And while they are used like a tampon, the difference is that they are not there to absorb, but to prevent leaks. Get yourself a sizing kit, and once you find the correct internal fit, you can get a 10-pack of your size and hit the gym, ladies!
Poise Impressa Bladder Supports are right for you if you leak urine when you laugh, cough, dance, sneeze, or exercise, but if you leak urine when you have a sudden need or rush to urinate, Poise Impressa Bladder Supports are NOT for you. Try Poise liners and pads for Urge Urinary Incontinence. Us mamas go through a lot… finding what gives you the confidence to get back out there is important. Poise has your back.
You can get Poise Impressa at Target, or delivered right to your door from Target.com. Share your love for Poise Impressa and get a $25 promo code to Cloud9Living.com experience, part of the Poise Impressa Rewards Program. Simply purchase Poise Impressa Sizing Kit at Target for only $2.99 (reg. $6.99) and providing a testimonial of your experience with Impressa.
You can wear Poise Impressa Bladder supports for up to 8 hours in a 24 hour period, and you do not need to remove them when using the bathroom- giving you the freedom to laugh, sneeze, or exercise worry-free. Get your confidence back! For distances under 5 miles, I know my bladder is getting stronger (thanks kegels!), but training for the long winter months and the perfect running weather the New England Fall brings means more miles. Knowing I can push my body those few steps means that I am regaining my body. Will you join me?

I don’t have leakage issues, but there is a whole group of moms in my zumba class who do & there is always a collective sigh when a song with jumps comes on!
Chelley @ A is for Adelaide says
HA! I know that sigh! I feel that way about trampoline parks!

It’s good to know that there are now products like the Poise Impressa for the more active women. I used to have this issue after I gave birth to my youngest. Kegel exercises helped a lot.

I have never heard of these. I am not one that can use tampons, so I would be curious if these would be an option if I ever needed.
