I am so excited to announce: The Trident Race is back!!!
If you’re into running, but want a challenge, The Trident Race is for you! The Trident Race was created out of love for Obstacle Course Racing, challenging participants in a fun, positive, and dynamic atmosphere. Founder Ethan Tucker and Co-Founder Mark Rhynard have been involved with race directing and OCR events for the past 5 years.
OCR is serious fun:
This unique race brings together some of the most exciting components this sport has to offer, in beautiful Colt State Park in Bristol, RI. The Historic landscape is 464 acres of lawns, wooded trails, stone walls, and curving drives along one of Rhode Island’s most breathtaking shorelines. If you’re going to work hard, no better scenery to do so in!
The 4-mile course takes participants through the Colt State, with 20 obstacles adding to the challenge. My favorite part? A stint or two on some of the park’s less traveled, but perfect for racing, terrains. Experiencing trails, beach, rolling hills, historic land marks, and unforgettable scenery keep this race fresh and challenging throughout.
The start, finish, and event epicentre are positioned at the beautiful Bristol Town Beach for finishers to enjoy a New England Style Lobster & Steak clam boil, but buy your tickets ahead of time! For sure, this finish line celebration is a big hit, and will sell out quick!
Another amazing way to celebrate? Hit the beach with the family! The gentle waves and relaxing atmosphere will bring you down from that racer’s high! Plus, you deserve to dip your toes in the sand after this race- trust me!
The location is perfect for the family to come watch you, too! My kids actually enjoyed waiting for me at this race because they got to play the whole time! After last year’s race, Addie and I jumped in the water, fully clothed! It was the perfect ending to a physically and emotionally draining race.
What can you expect during the race?
From over to under, lifts, carries, and climbs, the support along the way is, no doubt, what got me to the end! The obstacles are integrated into the course strategically to ensure no bottle necks, perfect for experienced OCR participants or new racers, alike. Classic obstacles, like rope climbs, walls, cargo nets, and bear crawls, are to be expected, but unique additions such as a giant slip & slide into a pond called Poseidon’s Rogue Wave, are sure to throw you for a loop!
My biggest weakness last year was my upper body power, so I’ve been working my arms a lot more to prepare! Carrying hay bales, climbing, buckets of water, and crawling left my shoulders screaming for the weekend! Get to lifting!
Do you have a mini-OCR fan??
There is a Mini Trident race that will start around noon on race day! The course will be light, and around a half mile. Please note, kids must be at least 42 inches tall and accompanied on the course by a parent or guardian. All kids will receive a finisher medal and t-shirt!

I received a free race bib in exchange for promoting about The Trident Race. All opinions are my own- YES I LOVE THIS RACE!

How fun! What a great way to cross train. I find running a bit monotonous and I think this might be the ticket for me. I’ll have to see if there are any in my area. Thanks for the info!

The Trident Race looks like a great way to put both running and strength training skills to the test. The finish line celebration would be an absolute must for me too!
