Last year I shared how I made a vision board… and this year, I learned from that and decided to pare it down a bit.
New Format
We can only wear so many hats, and numerous scientific studies have shown we need to PICK in order to be effective. And the best number is around 5 to 6.
That’s right- you only get to be 5 or 6 different things- and NO combining! So you’re not working from home and momming as one!
in 2018 #keepitsimplestupid #KISS Click To TweetI know there are so many people who do this (raises hand in guilt): we wear ALL the hats all the time. We drop what’s important to us for someone else, or juggle so many balls in the air we lose sleep keeping them all going.
The issue with that is that when doing this, we end of hurting more than ourselves, but the ones we love the most, too. Lack off sleep, proper nutrition, downtime… all of these things reflect in a lack of patience and energy, and feeling unwell and unfulfilled.
For 2018
My vision board became more of a reflection of me: more words less pictures.
While I LOVE imagery and often rely on it for inspiration- nothing motivates me more than sayings, trigger words, and concrete goal setting. Which is why this year I made my resolutions easier than ever.
The more you try to do, the less you get done. #simplify Click To TweetHow to create your vision board:
After choosing my 6 major roles:
* mom
* wife
* friend
* triathlete
* coach
* writer
I chose ONE major goal for each:
* be present
* to help more with a balanced budget
* more meaningful connections
* complete a sprint
* achieve diamond
* publish a book of poetry
Then 3 CONCRETE steps to reaching those goals:
* 15 minutes of individual play each day w/o cell phones.
* Teach girls how to bike so we can ride the path together.
* Read at naptime, not just bedtime.
~ Spend cash only.
~ Set aside $50 from every job, regardless of the pay (SELF CONTROL!).
~ Create monthly budget together.
* Send 1 handwritten letter a month to a friend/family member.
* Text/message one person a day to let them know: I see you.
* Plan a girls’ night each month.
~ Focus on weaknesses: open water swimming getting in and out of clip-ins.
~ Go to sleep by 12am.
~ End all late night snacking.
* Run consistent challenge groups.
* Share fitness posts to keep friends involved.
* Be consistent in my own nutrition!
~ Research my market.
~ Keep sharing… even though it is scary AF!
~ Always write down what I am thinking- the “I’ll remember that later” is never true!
Most important
Hang your Vision Board in a place where you will see it. Hiding your goals away from your eyes will also hide them away from your mind.
If you want to achieve something, you have to see it every single day… literally! Follow people on social media who are working towards the same things, have the lifestyle/goals/commitment you want. People who will inspire you, push you, that you want to emulate- not envy.
YOU’VE GOT THIS. Don’t let the people who have stopped dreaming, stopped pushing themselves, stopped creating new goals to crush your own spirit and drive. At the bottom of my vision board are a big FTW… #youdoyou
Want some help goal setting? I WANT TO HELP YOU! No strings attached- let’s set some goals and then CRUSH them!
