You\’ve probably been bombarded by a zillion messages, hopefully most of them support.
I think what you did was simply awesome. A mature approach to a topic not many understand or will ever have the opportunity to truly understand (and judging by the comments on articles, not many care to understand). People often take the stance that \”it\’s just a word\” , not just with the word midget, but many words that people find offensive. I always point out that words have meaning, that\’s why we humans talk to each other and why didn\’t just stop evolving at grunting and pointing at things. People don\’t laugh and point and call someone a \”Midget\” because they mean well.
Your daughter has obviously great parents! I\’m sure she\’ll grow up knowing almost anything is possible (my dad used to say to me, \”the only thing you can\’t be is an NBA player\”). She\’ll grow up in a world where she\’s constantly noticed. If I can give one piece of advice, teach her to turn that natural attention into a positive experience for the people she interacts with. I know it sounds cliché but bear with me (haha)! She\’ll go to school and teacher\’s will always remember her, she\’ll go for an job interview and she won\’t blend into the 10 other faces the interviewer saw that day, she\’ll (maybe) play sports and have the opportunity to prove everyone wrong. She can make a lasting impression and use it to take her far in life. The people who will make fun of her (or harrass you for your simple request of Cain) aren\’t worth your or her time anyway.
Anyway, sorry for the lengthy message. Just wanted to wish you the best! Adelaide is absolutely adorable and you must be such proud proud parents!
All the best,
Brit
