Honored to know some incredibly influential women, Vida Leche Amor designer and owner, Lauren Gottschalk-Scher, has graced me with the opportunity to share the most stunning little black dress for the holiday season.
Breastfeeding, in the past, has left women in a fashion lurch. Often sacrificing our desire to dress up, be comfortable, and feel good for functional attire, breastfeeding mamas haven’t had an easy road to style. As Lauren so beautifully shares her vision:
I designed Vida Leche Amore based on my love of pattern and color, along with my extensive experiences with breastfeeding and pumping in a wide variety of settings and circumstances. You name it, I’ve nursed an excessively impatient baby or toddler there! I believe that breastfeeding is a gift for both mother and child, and I have poured my passion and experiences into Vida Leche Amor, making sure each piece is carefully designed, constructed, and tested for both fashion and function. Vida Leche Amor makes breastfeeding wherever, whenever and for however long you choose easier while allowing you to dress joyfully in a celebration of Life, Love, and Milk.
I think many of us have been there. After a few months, the forgiving clothes we relied on in those early days need the same function, but more of us. Whatever the day brings, whatever the event is planned, having options to look and feel our best is so important.
With the holidays coming up, I know we will be out of the house later, which means Millie’s nighttime routine, which is mainly when she nurses now (wake, nap, bed), will not be in our usual place. She may get away with cute footies at a late party, but this mama needs (and wants) to stay in her heels, sporting a bit of sparkle.
I want to keep looking as dazzling on the outside as the holiday season makes me feel on the inside.
Isla
Putting on the beautiful Isla gave me the razzle-dazzle I so desperately have been looking for- and the access to nurse Millie discretely, if I need to!
Isla is a mixed lace nursing dress that manages to be both completely on-trend and classic. Isla is surprisingly soft, stretchy, and comfortable with an amazing fit – you won’t believe how great it looks and how well it functions. Isla falls just above the knees and features a universally flattering empire belt, which accentuates the smallest part of most women’s waists and visually elongates the body. The top of the dress pulls up at the empire belt to reveal discreet nursing access in the nude lining underneath. The peekaboo lace at the shoulders, cuffs, and hem shows just the right amount skin. Pair Isla with your favorite boots for work, play, or your latest Instagram photoshoot. Pump up the volume with your favorite heels and statement necklace for date night or the perfect holiday party look. Isla can continue to be worn well after you are done breastfeeding and pumping, or even during a pregnancy, with no trace of its original function.
All that glitters
My favorite pairings for this dress include gold, gold and gold! I love the sparkle, the way it highlights the illusion aspects and brightens my mood. Fashion, as a breastfeeding mother, is hard! With this look, the merriment never has to end!
