This Monday is kind of a big deal for us. As of yet, we have no word that Addie’s MRI is cancelled… so we have a “starving” child on our hands. She’s “so hungry” and just wants some “granona” (granola).
Sadly, we can give her nothing until after she has been sedated, intubated, imaged, and gone through recovery. She will then begin a 6 hour process of reintroducing food, starting with crackers and broth, until we know she won’t get sick from the anesthesia that she reacts to so poorly. The whole day breaks my heart. As I said goodnight to her last night, I told her how amazing and strong she was. I reminded her that most kids will never go through all that she does, and I love that she’s still always smiling.
She grabbed my cheeks, pulled my face into her own and told me she loved my skin. Then she kissed me and fell over in my arms in a playful collapse. This was around 10pm, of course. She was delirious with exhaustion and we’d just loaded her with tons of food hoping to keep her satiated and sleeping longer. But the message was the same, Addie is so full of love it almost bursts my heart… I have no idea how her own doesn’t fill her chest in its own right.
She’s amazing.
Which brings to light how precious parenthood is and how blessed I am to be experiencing this ride…. no matter how wild it is!
These little lights we have, growing up before our eyes- these blessings make the world a better place, which is why when I heard about THIS super cool event supporting hopeful parents Holly and Jenny, I immediately got excited to go!
Jenny eloquently lays out her story HERE, but more importantly, she’s honest, open and willing. Her road to parenthood is paved with hardships and uncertainty, but true to her spirit, she will not give up. Anyone who has ever met this couple knows why: they’re meant to be parents.
Hang In th’ Air, Baby! is happening at East Greenwich’s Varnum Memorial Armory on Sunday, Feb. 15, 2015, and will feature local performer/female impersonator Gia Deveroux, aerialists from Arielle Extreme gracefully defying gravity, as well as a silent auction, raffle, and dancing. Chipotle Warwick, Whole Foods Market Cranston, Narragansett Beer, West Side Wellness, Blue Sky Spaworks, Eala Bhan Studio, Yoreganics, Bryn Merida Massage Therapy and Providence Community Acupuncture are among the local businesses donating goods or services to Hang In th’ Air, Baby, and there are numerous handmade items and works of art have been donated for the silent auction.
Tickets for Hang In th’ Air, Baby! are $20 in advance and $25 at the door, kids age 5 and over are $5; to purchase tickets here. …or you can enter to win 4 tickets for yourself!

As someone who is in the middle of a infertility battle/treatments I think this is SUCH a great event. I have always wanted to be a mom, and while it feels like the world moves on and my dream remains unfulfilled I am trying to trust in that hope of a future.
