I’ve talked a lot about dreaming big and went so far as to write a whole POST about that… but then I found myself reading poetry to Addie from a book I was read from as a child called The Random House Book of Poetry for Children. I took it from my Mom’s house before Addie was born, and read a few pieces to her every month. I found myself on page 225, just scanning the words when I came upon Dream:
Dream
Hold fast to dreams
For if dreams die
Life is a broken-winged bird
That cannot fly.
Hold fast to dreams
For when dreams go
Life is a barren field
Frozen with snow.

That is a lovely poem. I didn’t have that book, but that just totally reminded me of how my dad used to read me poems from Where the Sidewalk Ends when I was a little girl.
We love reading that one, too! I think it’s the best to be able to share our childhood favorites with our kids!
